Turf Tips

spring overviewTips to Prepare Your Lawn for Spring

I’m getting anxious for spring to arrive and I’m sure you’re all hoping for a pleasant start to the golf season. Let’s talk about some things that you will need to prepare your lawn for the upcoming season.

Go to your local hardware store and buy all the steps of fertilizers for the season.
(This will save you $$ in the long run.)

Don’t forget that grub control is not included with the step programs so you will have to purchase that separately. Your best bet to control grubs is with “Season Long Grub Control with "Merit" that should be applied in July.
(I do not recommend the 24 hour control.)

Lastly, the most important step of the step programs is “Step 1” that contains a pre-emergent herbicide that is necessary to prevent crabgrass from germinating. The timing of this step is critical. You’ll want to apply this in the spring when the yellow forsythias start to bloom.
